Ports Director Appointed to Executive Committee of Regional Ports Organization

Providenciales, September 22, 2021 – Director of Ports, Delton Jones, has been appointed Vice Chairman of the Port Management Association of the Caribbean (PMAC) for the period 2021 to 2023.

The Board of Directors of the Ports Authority, management and staff extend congratulations to Director Jones on his appointment.

The Board of Directors overwhelmingly endorsed Director Jones’ nomination to become PMAC Vice Chairman. On receiving the news of Director Jones’ appointment, Ports Authority Chairman, Urban Francis, was elated and said: “This appointment is a tribute to the Ports Authority. It is a source of pride for the Ports Authority and indeed the TCI that an Islander can be appointed to a regional organization. This is pleasing coming on the heels of the TCI winning the Nova Port Cup as best performing PMAC member port during the recent Annual General Meeting. This should motivate staff and is great, given our plans for ports development in the TCI.”

Director Jones said: “This is a great opportunity to serve on the executive committee to promote the development of regional ports and awareness of their importance to economic development and resilience. I hope to be able to showcase the exciting work plans of the Ports Authority as well. I look forward to working effectively as a part of the executive to champion the ideals of PMAC.”

The Ports Authority recently hosted the 24th Annual General Meeting of PMAC where it was the winner of the Nova Port Cup for 2020 as the best performing regional port, based on a composite of five key performance indicators.

Due to its membership in PMAC, the Ports Authority benefits from technical assistance programs, training, visits to and networking with member ports, which have enabled introduction of new procedures and systems to improve port efficiency and effectiveness.
