Antillean Line commences scheduled shipping service to South Dock, Providenciales

Providenciales: The Ports Authority is pleased to announce the commencement of scheduled shipping service to South Dock, Providenciales from South Florida by Antillean Line. South Florida is the main international shipping gateway to the Turks and Caicos. The service by Antillean Line will commence mid-November with voyages on Tuesdays.

 

In announcing the new service, Ports Authority Chairman stated: “The Port Authority is pleased to announce the introduction of this new shipping service, marking a significant milestone in the redevelopment of South Dock. This initiative aligns with our goal to create modern, efficient ports that attract new vessels and ultimately contribute to lowering the cost of living for our communities.”

 

Mr. Barons Vidal, Director of Business Expansion and Strategic Development for Antillean Line stated, “Expanding our service to the Turks and Caicos is a strategic priority for us. We aim to start small and expand our expertise and proficiency in the Islands and emerge as a feasible choice for all customers.”

The Ports Authority is a government statutory body which manages government ports. South Dock is the main port in the TCI, through which more than 95% of trade and commence take place.

 

Antillean is a family-run enterprise which was started by the Babun brothers— Jose, Teofilo, and Abraham— in the early 1960s. Today, it is a vertical integrated shipping company operating shipping operating from the Miami River.

 

Antillean holds a federal license as a common carrier and is registered with the Federal Maritime Commission. Additionally, the Company holds a waterfront management license, granting it the authority to manage terminal facilities on the Miami River. Key regulatory bodies include U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
